Fellowship Prize

2017 Sudan Archive Visiting Library Fellowship

This is a two-month residential fellowship to support a sustained period of research in the Sudan Archive’s collections. An article will be produced by the fellow, published, in the first instance, on this website. Durham University Library’s Sudan Archive is located at Palace Green Library, located beside the cathedral in the heart of the city: its collections are described online. Costs of travel to Durham, college accommodation, and meals will be provided by the Library. The fellow will reside in Grey College during the Easter term of 2017 (23 April-22 June), and meals will be provided in college. In this its inaugural year the winner of the fellowship will be selected on the strength of a paper submitted in advance of the Sudan conference (26-28 September 2016), and on the relevance of the paper’s topic to the Archive’s collections. Entrants for the 2017 fellowship will therefore be postgraduate or postdoctoral students attending the conference, but in future years later career academics will also qualify.
